Seifert Announces Candidacy for State Senate
Marshall businessman Braxton Seifert has announced his candidacy for the Senate District 15 seat, currently held by Senator Gary Dahms (R-Redwood Falls).
Seifert is the sixth generation from his family to live in southwest Minnesota and brings deep family roots from across the district. He has served as Dahms’ Campaign Manager, been a member of the Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce, the Minnesota Auctioneer’s Association, served on the Board of the Lyon County Corn & Soybean Association, Knights of Columbus, Junior Achievement teacher, German Bohemian Society, Cultivating Entrepreneurial Opportunities Board, the Lyon County Republican Board, and active in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Seifert is loan officer at Minnwest Bank and also owns Silver Dollar Property Company and Silver Dollar Auction Company.
“I want our families and businesses to grow and thrive in southwest Minnesota,” Seifert said. “We need to end liberal policies and high taxes that are driving young people, families, and businesses out of our state.”
Seifert said he will focus on various issues, including bringing down the cost of living by lowering taxes and energy costs, have a ‘zero tolerance’ policy toward fraud, welfare reform, support for agriculture, proper funding for rural schools and nursing homes and fighting crime by reforming the recent ‘soft on crime’ policies passed in recent sessions.
“Our district is very large and deserves a strong voice that will stand up for our rural values,” Seifert said. “I want to continue the tradition that Gary Dahms has started and hold regular Town Hall meetings to listen to all constituents.”
Seifert will seek the Republican endorsement at the March Senate District 15 GOP Convention.
